On July 16, Xiangtan • Kunshan Taiwan-based Enterprises Cooperation Meeting under 2020 Hunan - Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Cooperation and Negotiation Week was held. Wang Tingkai, deputy director of Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, Yang Yingjie, deputy mayor of Xiangtan Municipal People’s Government, Huang Ren, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee and director of the Management Committee of Xiangtan Economic Development Zone, secretary of the Party Working Committee and director of the Management Committee of Xiangtan Comprehensive Bonded Zone (XTCBZ), Jiang Qian, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of Xiangtan Economic Development Zone, Zhang Wen, member of the Party Working Committee and vice director of the Management Committee of XTCBZ, representatives of Kunshan Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprise Association, U-Home Group, MiTAC, FOXLINK and other famous Taiwan-based enterprises, and relevant leaders of Economy Section of Hunan Taiwan Office, Hong Kong and Macao Section of Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, Undertaking Industrial Transfer Section, Xiangtan Taiwan Office, Xiangtan Bureau of Commerce, Xiangtan Economic Development Zone and XTCBZ attended the meeting.
Wang Tingkai, on behalf of Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, extended his greeting to representatives of Taiwan-based enterprises, and introduced the development blueprint, good investment environment and unlimited business opportunities of Hunan province. He said that Kunshan is a calling card of cross-strait economic and trade cooperation, with vibrant economic development, high degree of opening and strong innovation capability, being an important cluster of Taiwan-funded enterprises. Xiangtan Economic Development Zone, the fourth hundred-billion-yuan industrial park in Hunan Province, give priority to build industrial clusters of automobiles and parts, electronic information, advanced equipment manufacturing and medical devices, and is closely linked with Changsha on transportation and high-quality urban resources, forming a supporting industrial chain. Xiangtan Economic Development Zone and XTCBZ will realize integrated development, make overall plans in investment promotion and industrial development, and improve quality and standards in logistics, customs clearance, tax refund, exchange settlement and other production services, to provide better guarantee for the development of export-oriented enterprises. The Department of Commerce of Hunan Province targets at the precision and agglomeration investment promotion of industrial chain, and launches a package of specific measures for the reform of the business environment in the Yangtze River Delta, hoping that more entrepreneurs will come to Hunan, Xiangtan and Jiuhua to make investment and development.
Yang Yingjie said that Xiangtan and Taiwan have established close economic and trade ties. In 2006, Xiangtan built a provincial-level Taiwan industrial park in Jiuhua. In 2019, Xiangtan actively applied for the national “Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zone”, hoping to further deepen the cooperation with Taiwan-funded enterprises. In recent years, Xiangtan has upheld the policy of developing the city by industry, realizing rapid development of intelligent manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, high-end medical devices and electronic information. In the next move, Xiangtan will target at “high-end transformation, innovation and upgrading”, highlight “high-end, intelligent and special”, and build an industrial cluster with international competitiveness. Making investment in Xiangtan is to invest the core growth pole of Hunan province and the future of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city group. It is hoped that Taiwan-funded enterprises can deeply participate in cooperation and further deepen trade contacts.
Huang Ren introduced the investment environment of Xiangtan Economic Development Zone and XTCBZ. He said that Jiuhua is a new area that is rapidly rising and full of vitality. Jiuhua is located at the core growth pole of “Belt & Junction” initiative, is the geometric center of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city group and the core area of the integration of the three cities. With the accelerated promotion of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan integrated development in recent years, Jiuhua has boosted strategic position and development advantages. Jiuhua accounts for 2.7% of the total area of Xiangtan, while it contributes 17% of the city’s fiscal and tax revenue, 19% of GDP and 50% of import and export volume. It is striving to become a main industrial foothold and the bridgehead of integrated development of Xiangtan and Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city group.
